Eye of Sekhmet
Eye of Sekhmet
The Eye of Sekhmet is the first of its kind, a cell-phone sized catadioptric flashlight made of exotic hardwoods. There are four variants, each optimizing for a different aspect of performance, but all share these general characteristics
-Useful, even, wide-angle wash (~150 degree)
-crisp direct op-rod clicks for easy mode changing
-USB micro charging w/LED charge indicator
-GITD accents around charge port and switch (unless otherwise noted)
-exceptional thermal contact and performance
-slim form factor which easily slips in or out of a pocket
-exceptional throw performance
These lights are thinner and shorter than most 18650 tube lights, such as the popular Convoy S2+. Bistro (INSTRUCTIONS, FLOW CHART, GPLv3)or LD-3 firmware, both feature rich and snappy quick to use, round out the package.
Night Piercer - In its night piercer variant, the EoS puts out 260Kcd which is equivalent to over a kilometer of ANSI throw distance. For a pocketable package about the size of a smartphone, this is a remarkable feat. By way of example, the 200Kcd Dereelight Xsearcher is about 250mm long with a 70mm head diameter. Despite this fringe performance, it still produces useful wash for general illumination purposes.
Lumens - For those seeking higher lumen outputs, we offer a variant with the XP-L2 (dedomed) which produces over 2000 emitter lumens. Throw is still excellent by most people's standards, and of course wash/area illumination performance are correspondingly improved.
High CRI - CRI is a very popular performance facet these days. To meet this demand we're pleased to offer a variant tuned for the Nichia 219C. Offering 90CRI and 4000K, illuminated colors and details appear richer and more vibrant. Does this emitter really require further introduction?
Hex - So named for the unique hexagonal hot spot generated, the Hex variant offers an excellent compromise of lumens, throw, CRI, and tint by leveraging the cutting edge Nichia 319A.
Sekhmet is the Egyptian god of fire and war, the daughter of Ra, and also is a solar deity. A woman with the head of a lioness, she is a fierce and powerful deity. We've reserved her name for our line of lights which use ferocious catadioptrics, a very clever type of compound reflector which enables them to pack a real punch in a compact design.

AVAILABLE:
-Curly Yellow Birch over Cu, Hex 3000K
Curly yellow birch isn't in and of itself special enough to justify an exotic classification and a one-off. That vibrant iridescence, life, inside the wood though is just begging for painstaking embellishment with a special finish. Our proprietary tung oil, citrus oil, and beeswax finish was applied, a process taking weeks. The result maintains the beautiful natural satin sheen and texture of wood, while enhancing the glowing life within. Fittingly, the copper back was also brought up to a 1000 grit finish, as opposed to our standard brushed finish. To take things just one step further, we installed a beautiful Nichia 319A emitter, projecting a unique hexagonal beam, but unlike our production models this one is very warm 3000K - 68Kcd
-Curly Walnut over Cu w/ copper accents and polished back, CRI (dedomed)
This stunning light was made from the sweetest piece of several large walnut boards we acquired. Too special for a premium light, we seized the opportunity to turn this into a special one-off. Further adding to the special little touches, we polished out the copper backer, and used copper composite accents for the charging board mount and switch-rod bushing. (they're normally GITD blue) Because we wanted this celebration of light and color to be able to show itself off, we dedomed and binned several 90CRI Nichia 219c LEDs to get about a 30% performance jump over stock and a beautiful warm tint. - 84Kcd
-Bubinga w/ sycamore keys over Al, Lumen
Here is a light with some character, turn a flaw into a feature. This piece of bubinga has beautiful color and grain, so we stabilized the crack and installed three DEEP sycamore butterfly keys. You can see it in the photo where we deliberately violated the edge to show off, these keys aren't some aesthetic inlay, they run almost all the way through the light. The sycamore came from a tree we harvested and have been curing for the last 30 years, and are finally using it for projects! A beautiful piece, and truly one of a kind. The lightweight aluminum back beautifully contrasts the red of the bubinga, and cuts the weight to half that of a copper backed light making it easy to carry and use. A durable varnish finish completes the package. - 175Kcd.
Bubinga w/ ebony keys and copper inlay over Cu, Lumen
Another beautiful piece of bubinga begging for functional embellishment. We used ebony butterfly keys, again full depth no shortcuts here, but instead of simply stabilizing the crack we filled it with copper composite. The result is stunning to behold. Fitting a key above the optic was particularly challenging, necessitating quite the unusual asymmetric design. A copper backer with a polished finish, rather than the standard brushed, really makes the engraving pop and completes the theme. - 171Kcd
Lightning Struck Spanish Cedar over Cu, Lumen
We developed a process in-house to consistently strike lights with high voltage electricity, resulting in beautiful and utterly unique patterns. No two will ever be the same, and every wood behaves differently. We particularly love the fractal patterns produced in this Spanish cedar. Finish is a very practical and durable varnish complimented by the brighter SrAl powered green glow inserts - 176Kcd
Lightning Struck Walnut over Cu, Lumen
We developed a process in-house to consistently strike lights with high voltage electricity, resulting in beautiful and utterly unique patterns. No two will ever be the same, and every wood behaves differently. This walnut piece came out absolutely beautifully though, with crazy lines all over. It was finished in our proprietary tung oil, citrus oil, and beeswax finish, a process taking weeks that really maximizes the wood's natural beauty. - 161Kcd
